Personal connection
Participants are understood as people first, with time taken to learn how they communicate, what matters to them and what helps them engage.
Oscar Fogarty founded Motion & Meaning Support to create one-to-one support that feels relevant to the participant, dependable to families and professionals, and connected with a wider life beyond paid support.
I am a current disability support worker and the founder of Motion & Meaning Support. I created the business after seeing how strongly a young person’s engagement can change when support feels genuine, purposeful and connected to who they are.
My work has brought together young people, families, support coordinators and allied-health professionals across sport, community participation, everyday routines, creative interests and periods when trust and consistency matter most. It has shaped a belief that strong support begins with the relationship, then helps open pathways into confidence, independence, identity and belonging.
Alongside direct support work, I am completing a Bachelor of Advanced Commerce (Honours) at Griffith University. That wider background has strengthened how I think about leadership, responsibility, service quality and building an organisation that can grow while remaining personal and accountable.
I have a strong interest in psychology, human behaviour, philosophy, money and the conditions that help people become more capable and valuable to themselves and others. I am also writing a book exploring these broader ideas through responsibility, self-knowledge, relationships, behaviour, money and meaningful contribution.
Motion & Meaning brings these perspectives together in a service designed to be warm, reliable, carefully organised and genuinely connected with each participant’s wider life.
The Motion & Meaning approach has benefited from practical guidance, conversations and experience shared by occupational therapists, a registered neurological music therapist, support coordinators, families and other people working in disability support.
That wider influence helps the business think more carefully about communication, sensory needs, meaningful activity, community participation, professional boundaries and collaboration with the participant’s existing team.
Motion & Meaning also has access to a private home music studio for suitable creative support activities such as instrument exploration, songwriting and basic recording, creating another meaningful setting for confidence, expression and shared interests.
“Different professionals see different parts of a person’s life. Good support listens, collaborates and stays within its role.”
Participants are understood as people first, with time taken to learn how they communicate, what matters to them and what helps them engage.
The quality of the relationship matters. Support is shaped around personality, interests, age, communication, capability and practical fit.
Sessions create real experiences, routines and community opportunities that connect with the participant’s own goals.
Participants, families and professionals receive clear information about progress, limitations, pricing and what the service can realistically provide.
Warm and relatable support is backed by preparation, boundaries, documentation, reliability and accountability.
The long-term direction is greater confidence, independence, belonging and connection with people and communities beyond paid support.
Rather than beginning with a list of profiles, we start by understanding the participant — their interests, personality, communication style, routines and what they want from support. From there, we can talk through who may suit them best and arrange a Complimentary Meet & Connect before regular support begins.
Share the interests, qualities, routines and type of support that would help the participant feel comfortable, engaged and understood.
We look at personality, shared interests, capability, availability, location and consistency — not simply who has an empty shift.
The Complimentary Meet & Connect gives the participant and family a relaxed opportunity to meet the proposed worker and see how the connection feels.
Call or send an enquiry and tell us a little about the participant. We can then talk through the kind of worker who may be the strongest fit.
Oscar currently holds the core checks and training listed here. Further business insurance information will only be added publicly once cover is active and confirmed.
The long-term vision is a small, trusted team of workers who connect naturally with boys and young men, bring different interests and strengths, and share the same commitment to thoughtful matching, strong relationships and meaningful participation in everyday community life.
Growth will be deliberate: supported by consistent communication, strong supervision, useful systems, local partnerships and standards that protect the quality of every participant’s experience.
The Meet & Connect is complimentary, informal and carries no obligation to continue.
